What this quote is saying is true. If you do what’s right you don’t get sent to jail. You get to have freedom for as long as you want by choosing the right. You can be independent by doing all the right things.

Example: An example of this can be violence. Instead of fighting a lot and getting send to jail, you can do other things. Fighting gets you nowhere. You can be sent to jail and forced to give in your freedom. Don’t copy this. Anyhow, doing right things will give you long lasting freedom.
